A cistoscopia é um exame endoscópico utilizado para avaliar o trato urinário inferior tanto de homens (uretra, próstata e bexiga), como mulheres (uretra e bexiga).
É administrado um gel anestésico diretamente na uretra do paciente (que pode estar também sob sedação). Em seguida introduz-se o cistoscópio (instrumento óptico conectado à uma camera) que possibilita a avaliação dos referidos segmentos urinários e é de extrema importância na investigação de quadros com dificuldade urinária, sangramento urinário, suspeita de pedras e tumores na bexiga, por exemplo.
